... And off we go again bringing Christmas Cheer! We started this year at Tesco in Havant and collected a magnificent £390 for our 2024/5 charity, the Rowans Hospice. The crusty ol' Barnacles earned us a fair bit with their sea shanties t00! |
Great news! Connor and Zoe were married on Saturday at the beautiful St Matthew's church in Blackmoor. We loved singing Seal Lullaby and The Ground during the signing of the Register and giving our all to the hymns too. It was a beautiful day, full of happiness and love. CONGRATULATIONS to Connor and Zoe, we all wish you a long and happy marriage. |
The Barnacles have been out and about again. Our crusty sea shantymen (and lady) were at the Northcote Hotel this week. They entertained an enthusiastic audience with a full programme of sea songs. Some beer may have been consumed ,... the Barnacles know how to have fun! |
Folks in Harmony held their Charity Presentation and Open Evening on 12th September. |
In July, we invited the Ukrainian Two Colours Choir to join us at our Summer Special show. They had the audience (and us!) dancing in the aisles. Of course, we couldn't understand their songs and they didn't understand ours, but we all had a good time anyway. Great performances too from Folks In Harmony, The Barnacles, Kevin, Connor and 'Guys 'n Gulls'. Another winner, and lots of money raised for EnableAbility, our charity for 2024. |
We took a small choir to entertain the Capstan Group in Purbrook and they loved it. I think Peter was casting a spell ... Ollie gave us all a good laugh with her monologue 'A Costume Drama' too. |
We were asked by the Denmead Twinning Association to put on a concert to help them raise funds (profits shared with our own charity fundraising), so on Saturday 13th April we gave them a treat in the wonderful acoustic of All Saints Church, Denmead. We sang and performed to a very appreciative audience, and happily joined in with the wonderful interval buffet provided by the Twinning Association members - the best ever! In Deryn's absence, I don't think anyone took any photographs, but we looked and sounded splendid anyway. ? Our host wrote a note of thanks to us: "We were mightily impressed with Folks in Harmony who are clearly a very talented group of singers and more!! Everyone on our side were delighted that you came and gave us such a varied, professional and fun programme of music. Please pass our heartfelt thanks to your colleagues for a wonderful evening of entertainment."" |
Another fabulous evening strutting our stuff to a packed audience at St Wilfreds Church in Cowplain. We performed our Christmas songs and some other fun stuff too. Connor played two Ola Gjeilo pieces on the piano, Kevin sang a lovely solo, Jan gave us a beautifully narrated Christmas poem, and a new quartet made their first appearance. Lots of good things happening! |
A fabulous Summer Sensation show raised funds for this year's charity: the Rosemary Foundation. As well as our new songs, the show featured soloists Kevin Bunting and Connor Judd, our sea shanty group The Barnacles, and our MC and entertainer Ollie Butler. We all had a lovely evening and from what we hear ... so did our guests. |
Those crusty barnacles have been out and about again - they blew the storm clouds away at the Party for the Warren yesterday! | |

It's hard to believe that Folks In Harmony has just celebrated our 10th birthday! Back in 2012, three friends and former members of a ladies chorus decided to try something new, so created an a cappella choir and invited some men to join. We started singing in a sitting room and quickly grew to 18 members for our first official practice in August 2012. Needing a larger venue, we hired Bedhampton Community centre, where we’ve been ever since. Now we have over 40 members - and a lot more friends! We've won competitions and performed around our local community, and we stage two concerts a year to raise money for local charities. Happy Birthday to Us |
Charity Presentation At our Open Evening on 8th September, FIH announced a donation of £1000 to our nominated charity, Solent Mind. The money was raised during a difficult period with limited performance opportunities. We're delighted to support this worthy cause. |
